World Kindness Day 2014

Today is World Kindness Day!

While I strongly believe every day should be the World Kindness Day, I think it is just as important to hold a day specifically commemorating kindness. This is important because more people need to be reminded that there is kindness all around and no one has to feel sad, alone, or hurt because there will always be someone kind enough to extend a helping hand or shoulder to cry on.

In commemoration of World Kindness Day, what act of kindness will you be doing today? What act of kindness will you extend for the day after? How about a week after? Or how about in a year?

That may seem overwhelming, but really, it isn’t. Each of us owes our life, our existence, and our strength to keep on living, from someone who has extended to us an expression of kindness – be it directly or indirectly. We wouldn’t be where we are today, and we wouldn’t be who we are now, if it weren’t for the kindness extended to us from our friends and loved ones, and even from total strangers.

So go ahead and make someone smile today. Let them know that they are loved and appreciated and cared for. Extend a hug and a smile. You never really know, your smile may just as well be what keeps them going through this day.

Being kind is not that hard. We are innately kind and caring creatures. We were born to love and care for others. All it really takes is just one smile… and the rest of the good deeds will flow through naturally.

What kind deed are you planning to do today?

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.”
