Bryce’s Sendoff Party

Late post: Written November 8, 2014

Bryce is going back to America on the 10th and he decided that the best way to leave the country is by celebrating his last day in the Philippines with great friends. So, he organized a boat party from Mactan to the middle of the ocean and invited his friends in Cebu to have one last crazy beach party with him.

The meetup was at 8:30 AM at Maribago Wharf. This is the second time that I’ve been here, the first time being at my very first booze cruise with the couchsurfers in Cebu.

By 9 AM, most of Bryce’s friends were already there. We all hung out and talked for a while before we went on our way to the boat.

Almost everyone on the boat has never been to the North Sandbar, so everyone agreed to go.

The boat ride was really long. It took us around two hours, but the view along the way made the long trip worth it.

When we finally got to the North Sandbar, the view was even more beautiful.

The tides affect the size of the mini island.

A part of the day, it could just be a small strip of sand, but when the tide is lower, the island could be big enough for a volleyball court.

It was really, really hot so it made for a good tan…or a sunburn! That didn’t stop us from taking LOTS of photos though.

One of my favorite moments from @rufela's #gopro. We're like lovers getting ready to make out on the beach lol so sweet ๐Ÿ˜˜

In fact, we quite enjoyed taking photos, the rest of us decided it would be a good idea to take photos naked. After all, there’s no one else at the beach but us.

Of course, there’s always a first time for everyone…including me.

After we goofed around with crazy pictures on and around the mini island, we all got ready to go back.

The trip back to the city was long, so to pass time, Sheila and I played a drinking game while the rest of the passengers slept or ate.

I decided to brave the waters of the Mactan strait and sat on the edge of the boat along with Rufela.

Needless to say, we captured a bit of the sunset.

If my phone wasn’t dying right then and there, I would have captured more sunset photos. It’s not everyday you get to capture photos of the sunset in the middle of the ocean.

We all managed to get home safe. Our tans started to sting and we felt sandy/sticky all over but it was well worth it.

We will all miss you Bryce. Keep inspiring others and going on adventures. Safe travels, dear friend.
